Sinking Ship (In Which We Nearly Die: Part 2)

Log: #8312017
Hunter: Adri Hatter                                                                 *Refer to Part 1 before proceeding

I beamed, ready for our next great adventure, nearly bouncing on my heels as I prepared everything we needed. "We gotta catch em' all!" I almost sang.

"I'd sing that song but I don't know the lyrics." said Ryder, who wasn't as familiar with Earth's culture.

"Oh, in that case I won't sing. Singing alone is awkward."

"We could always sing a song neither of us know." She suggested, fixing her fabulous blue hair and pulling a backwards ball cap over her unicorn horn.

"Perfect!" I pushed a button and pulled up the map of the galaxy we were in.

"Uhh... Adri, we have three holes." said Ryder after a minute of looking through tracking methods.

"What?"

"Three. Holes... We have three holes. THE SHIP IS GOING DOWN!"

"Aaah!!" I flailed around then looked up at the ceiling. A third hole had appeared next to the other two, and slowly it start growing.

"It must be the Mat Thieves!" she shouted over the sound of the siren that started to sound for danger. "They stole Mat the hole-repair guy!"

"I thought you were going to fix those." I deadpanned.

"Too lazy. I hired a repair man." she returned. "Now, come on! The ship is going down!"

"I'll get a bucket and start bailing the water out of the ship!"

I went off to run and get a bucket. Then once I returned Ryder took me by the arm and whispered "Adri... we're in space."

"Oh. Ohhhh yeaaah, right."

She took the bucket and started to bail the space out of the ship, pouring the contents of space into the garbage disposal. I put on my space-helmet and oxygen tank. Hatters need air to breathe and can't survive simply in space without the proper gear.

"We have to save the Monsters! And the Friendlies!" I yelled.

"I'm going to keep bailing the space out of here! You get the pets to the escape pods!"

"And I'll go see if we have magic hole-fixer gadget!"

"Yes, that too!"

I wooshed away to save our beloved friends, looking for a gadget to help as well. We can't let the Because Reasons go down. I ushered all the Friendlies to the room with the escape pods, reminding everyone to stay calm. "We'll all be okay!" I assured them. "You all need to be brave for us, okay? We just need you to stay safe, don't worry."

Foo wiggled her nose worriedly, as JPK and TXH huddled together in the corner. Imi tried his best to be brave and show for his friends but vanished into invisableness due to the stress. Buffer bumped my leg, beeping in a worried tone. "It's okay, Buffer." I said, "Go make sure the other monsters are okay for me. I need to find a way to fix this."

He gave a salute and rolled off to do his job.

Frantically, I searched for something, anything, to help get us out of this predicament. My eyes shot to the Bubblegum gun. "Bubblegum is sticky," I thought aloud. "This has to work!" I grabbed it and ran back to the main deck.

"I found a Bubblegum blaster!" I shouted as Ryder held onto a part of the ship, trying to keep from getting sucked into space. "You think this'll work?"

"Not unless you chew it first and that'd take too long!" she shouted back, the bucket slipped from her hand. I held tight to the doorframe.

"It's all I have! I have to try." I spat a little bit of the gumballs into the blaster and chambered it. Papers flew all around the room, the Slither that was on the wall wrapped its snake-like body around a pipe. I raised the blast, aiming at the hole and shot the gumballs at it. One, two, three, shots.

A gust of the suction created by the hole blasted through the deck, roaring like the worst windstorm you could imagine. The hole only grew.

"No!" yelled Ryder. "Help! I'm getting sucked through!"

Her baseball cap was whipped off her head, flying into space.

"No! Killer! This can't happen!" I grappled to find something to pull her back in.

But her hands slipped, and before I could even think to do anything she was pulled into space.
